I went to! Daitohata Saiban Community Appreciation Gathering!
The flyer posted on the bulletin board looked like a fun and profitable event, but in reality, it was more of a "funeral home event...? What kind of event? I went to this event with no idea what to expect.
Upon entering the bright and cool museum, I was greeted with smiles from all the staff members, and I was relieved to see a long line of people waiting to get in.
I stood in line without understanding what was going on, and to my surprise, I was able to purchase a Mai-izumi pork cutlet sandwich for 250 yen.
Other food items are also available at reasonable prices, including onigiri rice balls from a neighborhood bento shop and a hearty crepe for 200 yen, which would normally cost 600 yen at a normal event! And all drinks, from juice to barley tea and coffee, are free of charge.
Another line was for all-you-can-stuff vegetables: for 100 yen, you could fill a bag with onions, carrots, and potatoes. Our family modestly packed 5 onions, 1 carrot, and over 10 potatoes!
Free events ranged from children to seniors. For children, there were games and workshops such as ring toss, and for seniors, there were inheritance seminars and personal history making! In a slightly larger room, a rakugo storyteller was performing a full-fledged rakugo storytelling session.
On the second floor, there is a bazaar of handmade goods made at welfare facilities, massage booths, etc. My 4-year-old daughter was absorbed in making plastic-ban key rings.
Outside, in the intense heat, fire department personnel showed us how to use a fire extinguisher and let our children sit in the driver's seat of a real fire truck.
After a quick tour of the museum, I sat down on a fluffy sofa in the rest area and had a light lunch of a pork cutlet sandwich I had purchased and a free iced coffee.
We took a breather, and before we knew it, it was almost the end of the day! The children were not bored at all, and the three hours flew by in the blink of an eye.
At the end of the day, we came home with plenty of pleasant souvenirs.
I have lived in the Sasahata area for 5 years now. Why didn't I notice this event earlier? I regret that I didn't know about this event earlier.
