The Sasazuka Summer Festival is a major event for Sasahatahatsu residents, so much so that in July, out of nowhere you hear people saying, "What's this year's Summer Festival...?
This year's event was held in a grand (in a good way) and as usual, it went off without a hitch. We participated in the event with our 4-year-old, so I will report on how we enjoyed the event with our little one.
First of all, festivals are associated with ring toss and yo-yo fishing. And then there is the fluffy playground equipment that is so popular everywhere. And all of this is free of charge. Therefore, there are long lines every year, but the best time to go is right after the festival starts on the first day! It is recommended to go through the shaved ice and yakisoba for now and head there first.
On the second day, I participated in and cheered for the children's Tsunahiki (tug-of-war) contest between town councils, which is also a big hit every year.
Meanwhile, on the main stage, the Sasanaka Oyaji Band and other musicians will play hit songs from the past, adding to the nostalgic atmosphere of the summer festival.
If you get tired of the crowd on the stage, take a break in the chairs in front of the booths. The children's supper is already served here. After repeatedly meeting and playing with neighborhood friends, it was past 6:00 pm before we realized it was time to go. With a toddler in tow, we were unable to make it to the Yosakoi Parade, and left the venue with our hair in our backs.
The Sasazuka Summer Festival is held every year in the early part of the exciting summer vacation. I love the atmosphere of the festival, where not only the children but also the adults are buoyed by the anticipation of the upcoming summer.
