Walking under the elevated railway tracks from Sasazuka Station toward Daitabashi, I noticed a quaint old house and a magnificent wooden sign that read "Ando Shoten.
A quick peek inside the store, thinking it might be an antique shop, reveals a tasteful interior and an array of quality-looking vintage clothing. There is an almost 50-50 split between men's and women's clothing, with a few children's items as well.
The lineup of secondhand clothing ranges from vintage closures of famous high brands such as Dior, Chanel, and Gucci to outerwear of popular current brands such as North Face and Moncler, ranging from tens of thousands of yen to items priced at around 3,000 yen. Some accessories are priced at as little as 500 yen!
Unlike the miscellaneous secondhand clothing stores in Shimokitazawa and other areas, this shop selects and stocks high-quality items, making it easy to choose from, and the prices are conscientious.
On the second floor, which is an antique floor, there are many old tools, mainly tableware. At a glance, one can feel the excitement of "I'm sure I'll find something good.
As with old clothes, expensive items cost several tens of thousands of yen, but everyday items such as plates and cups start at a few hundred yen, so it is a good place to find gifts for yourself and others. There is even a magnificent helmet on display in the tokonoma (alcove), which is sure to be a hit with foreign tourists!
Ando Shoten also offers purchase services. Even if you want to sort out the stuff in your house, it is scary to let unknown buyers into your house in the midst of a series of robberies, such as the Tokuryu incident, but if the store is properly set up in your neighborhood, you can rest assured that you are in good hands. Besides, it would be kind of nice to see the memorable items that have been in my house for a long time actually on display in the store!
Ando Shoten is a secondhand clothing and antique store that is exciting for both buyers and sellers. It is a new type of store that was not available in the Sasahatahatsu area of Sasazuka, Hatagaya, and Hatsudai.
