Completely free, authentic fashion show experience! @ Bunka Fashion College Cultural Festival
Event Report

During the three-day weekend of November 2, 3, and 4, many "XXX Festivals" were held in various places, but did you know that there were also many cultural and school festivals held at universities and vocational schools?

People tend to think, "Culture festivals are for students and students preparing for entrance exams, aren't they? It is not for adults or people with children," but this is not true!

School festivals, especially those that specialize in one field, have a different level of seriousness!

So this time, we took a peek at the cultural festival at Bunka Fashion College in the Hatsudai area, Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku.

Bunka Fashion College is all about fashion.

The highlight of the festival is the fashion show, in which everything from the design and production of the clothes to stage design and direction is done by the students! You can't miss it.

According to my preliminary research, numbered tickets for the most popular shows are distributed starting at 9:30 AM. I woke up early and started lining up at 9:00 a.m. and was able to get tickets for the first show at 11:00 a.m. The tickets were free!

However, this is not a relief. There is no order of entry or seat number on the ticket, so in order to get a good seat, you have to wait in line to get in. We started lining up about 30 minutes before the show started and managed to get a seat. (If you are at the back of the line, you may have to stand.)

The seats for this show are arranged in a double circle, and the models walk in a circle around the rows between the seats. Therefore, the models always pass almost right in front of you in every seat. It is very powerful and realistic! And the models walk surprisingly fast!

I don't know much about fashion, so I can only describe it poorly, but at any rate, I was overwhelmed from start to finish by the full-scale fashion show that went beyond my expectations. From an amateur's point of view, this is not so different from the Paris Collection, isn't it? From an amateur's point of view, this is not so different from the Paris Collection! Even my 4-year-old daughter, who was a little bored before the show started, was very excited once it began. The 20-minute show was just right for a small child.

And what's more, at the end of the show, you can actually talk with the models and take pictures with them! This is a service you will never find at the Paris Collection!

Bunka Fashion College's cultural festival also featured many other events, including a select store planned by students, sales of apparel brands created by students, and an exhibition of artwork created by students. As is typical of cultural festivals, there was also a live performance by a comedian. The school cafeteria was also open, so you could even have lunch at a reasonable price!

I had passed by Bunka Fashion College many times while riding my bicycle from Hatsudai to Shinjuku, but I didn't really know what it was.

It was an exciting and fresh experience, just like Shibuya, the fashion center of Tokyo!

This experience seemed to have a profound effect on our 4-year-old, who absorbs everything he sees, and immediately after returning home, his creativity exploded and his drawing ability soared.
