Can't get to the main festival, Goldfish Festival! Yoyogihachiman Festival Mamoru @ Yoyogihachiman Fest & Aimu Land Tomigaya Festival
Event Report

The Goldfish Festival is a May tradition at Yoyogi Hachimangu Shrine. It is a very popular annual festival with a cute goldfish portable shrine.
This year, what two festivals will be held simultaneously in the Yoyogi-Hachiman Station area in conjunction with this goldfish festival.
It takes only 10 minutes by bicycle from Sasazuka to Yoyogihachiman. There is no reason for our family, who loves local festivals, not to go there!

The venue is Tomigaya 1-chome Street in front of Yoyogi-Hachiman Station on the Odakyu Line and Yoyogi-Koen Station on the Tokyo Metro.
Although the street was busy with cars, it was fully pedestrianized up to the Tomigaya 1-chome intersection. The street was divided into two parts: the Yoyogi-Hachiman Station side was the "Yoyogi-Hachiman Fest" organized by the Yoyogi-Hachiman Shopping Association, and the Tomigaya 1-chome intersection side was the "Aimu Land Tomigaya Festival" organized by the Tomigaya 1-chome Shopping Association, each with its own unique booth.

The Yoyogi-Hachiman festival has a stronger festival feel with the appearance of a DJ booth and a performance by the Shibuya Sunrockers cheerleaders! In contrast, Aimu Land features a performance by local taiko drum group Yoyogi-no Hachiman Taiko! It is the ultimate in luxury to be able to enjoy both the old and new music festivals!

Both festivals maintained an exquisite balance between booths that were similar to each other but not identical in content. For example, one booth featured familiar animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, and goats, while the other featured a petting zoo with micro pigs, which is a rarity.

The food and beverage booths were also filled with specialty dishes from unique eateries that have actual shops in their respective locations. From buttermilk chicken to sweets from a sweet potato specialty store, it was a great opportunity to try out some of the gourmet foods that we had been curious about but had never tried.

There were also many events where children could play for free, such as booths of professional sports clubs based in Shibuya Ward and yo-yo fishing by the shopping association! One of the things that children were especially fascinated by was the ice blocks with little toys buried in them. The children are supposed to melt them by shaving, tapping, or pouring water on them to get the toys. The weather was cloudy and chilly. The ice didn't melt very well, and my daughter had to wait for almost 30 minutes to get a small fish doll.

In addition, the real estate agents at Aimu Land have been very generous in opening up their rest areas and restrooms.

I found myself going back and forth between both festivals and it was about 3:00 pm. We hurried to the main festival, the Goldfish Festival at Yoyogi Hachimangu Shrine. Of course, the food stalls and other vendors were a big success here as well, but our stomachs and hearts were already full, so we just paid our respects and returned home.
