Although Halloween in Shibuya seems to be completely negative in the public's mind, the kids' Halloween area continues to be a big success. However, Halloween events in Harajuku and Daikanyama, which are very popular every year, require advance registration, which is a bit daunting...
The Hatagaya Cross Street Halloween Festival was just right for those who wanted to enjoy a little bit of Halloween atmosphere.
This is an event sponsored by Hatagaya Naka Town Council, which holds an event with a twist every season, and no advance registration is required. Of course, children from other areas are welcome to participate!
While waiting in line to receive a bag of snacks at the reception desk, a disaster prevention quiz contest suddenly began. If you answered correctly, you received a kinako stick as a present. The town council's educational activities are well organized!
There are several candy spots set up on Cross Street, and just by wandering around, you can accumulate more and more candy in your bag.
In the middle of the street, visitors could enjoy fair-like games such as Struck Out and shooting games.
There are also stalls selling alcohol and takosen for adults, and quite a few chairs and tables for eating and drinking, complete with trash cans, of course.
It was right around 3:00 p.m., so while listening to the kids' DJ performance, my daughter ate the candy she received and the adults enjoyed a leisurely lunchtime drink. At a big Halloween event, it is easy to get caught up in the crowd and become desperate to complete the mission, but because it was a local event, the relaxed atmosphere was just right, and both adults and children had a great time.
